Identity, Mental Health & Finding Yourself in Motherhood
So much attention after having a baby is focused on the baby—but what about the mother?
Join Dr. Pam Singer, licensed psychologist and perinatal mental health specialist (PMH-C), for a warm and candid conversation about the emotional and psychological transition into motherhood.
We’ll talk about the parts of postpartum life that don’t always make it into the baby books: changes in identity, relationships and body image; anxiety and overwhelm; loss of autonomy; and the complicated mix of joy, love, grief, frustration, and vulnerability that can coexist during this enormous life transition.
We’ll explore how to distinguish the normal chaos and emotional complexity of new motherhood from postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and other experiences that may benefit from additional support. We’ll also consider what it means to find yourself within this new role—not necessarily by “getting back” to who you were before motherhood, but by integrating the person you were with the person you are becoming.
For those interested in going deeper, Dr. Singer will offer an accessible overview of therapeutic approaches that can support postpartum mental health, self-understanding, and personal growth—including IFS, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure-based treatment for postpartum OCD, mindfulness and body-based practices, and emerging approaches such as psychedelic- and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. She’ll also share practical tools you can begin using on your own to reconnect with yourself while spending so much of your time caring for someone else.

**Come as you are. This will be an informal, supportive, and judgment-free conversation with time for discussion and Q&A. Note: This free gathering is designed as a space for moms. If possible, we encourage you to come on your own and enjoy some time focused entirely on you. That said, we know childcare isn’t always available—babies are absolutely welcome if bringing yours makes it possible for you to attend.**
